“It’s great to be in Rockhampton today talking to some of the people on the frontline in our emergency services,” Anna said today.

“The recent Victorian bushfires and floods in our north and north-west show we have to be prepared and do more to support our local SES and Rural Fire heroes.”

Anna today launched a $12.98 million package to support them.

The SES will receive at least 93 new vehicles and the Rural Fire Fighting service will receive 14 new fire engines under the plan.

Anna said today’s announcement was an example of responsible spending in tough times.

“These are really tough economic times. I made a commitment to Queenslanders that I would make reasonable, careful decisions,” Anna said.

“This money will go straight to the frontline in our communities. The recent fires and floods highlighted the need to be prepared. And that’s what today’s announcement is about.”

“Queensland is lucky to have the service of heroic men and women who regularly risk life and limb to serve their communities”.

After Rockhampton, the Premier visited Keppel Bay sailing club, overlooking beautiful Keppel Island, and Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre.

“I’ve been out meeting locals with Paul Hoolihan, our local member here,” Anna said.
