Jobs and climate change would continue to be key priorities of Labor if re-elected, Anna said today.
In Brisbane today, Anna launched the Cleaner, Greener Buildings Policy which will mean Queensland becomes an environmentally friendly construction hub, creating and supporting green jobs for the State.
“Labor’s Green Buildings policy is aimed at meeting the two big challenges of our time - creating jobs and protecting the environment,” Anna said.
“From 2010, every one of the 33,000 new dwellings built in Queensland every year will be greener than ever before.”
“In these tough economic times, we need to keep our eye on the future so that when things get better we are in a stronger position then ever to cultivate this emerging industry.”
The new policy makes Queensland the first state to require new houses and major renovations to meet six star, or equivalent, energy efficient standards.
“I want Queensland to lead the way in development of these new industries of the future.”
