Visiting QEII hospital in Brisbane today, Anna outlined her plan to keep the shortest waiting lists in Australia through the expansion of the successful Surgery Connect program.

The program will deliver up to 20,000 new elective operations in Queensland over the next three years.

“As a result of our investment in new elective surgery facilities, like this one here at QEII hospital, Queensland is now seeing the shortest elective surgery waiting times in the country,” Anna said. “But that’s not enough. We need to keep doing more.

“Surgery Connect is a program that allows us to treat public patients in private hospitals, when they have spare operating theatre capacity.

“It’s a smart program that is common sense. That’s why today I am pleased to announce we will making the Surgery Connect program a permanent feature of Queensland Health’s operation”.
