Today Anna was in Gladstone with the Prime Minister talking to locals about jobs and announcing a new policy that will support thousands of new apprentice positions.
The new policy means that 10 per cent of the work on State and Federal building projects will be done by apprentices and trainees if Labor is re-elected.
“It’s a warm day here in Gladstone and it’s great to be joined here today by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd,” Anna said.
“Today, we met students who will be tomorrow’s foot soldiers for Queensland’s economy.
“We need these young workers. They will build our prosperity when the Global Financial Crisis has passed.”
